Stakeholders in the programme (e.g. actual and potential project partners) are asked about the functioning and achievements of FP7. This input will be used to draft the Interim Evaluation of the Seventh Framework Programme. Deadline for submission of opinions is 27th August 2010.

Belgian EU Presidency's priorities in the area of R&D


The Belgian priorities for the next 6 months are in line with recently published policy documents of the EU, amongst others "Europe 2020" and the “Digital Agenda”.

The new ICT Work Programme 2011-2012 published


DG Information Society and Media of the European Commission have published the new ICT Work Programme for 2011-2012 . This Work Programme defines the priorities for calls for proposals that will result in projects to be launched in the period 2011-12.

EMF releases position paper on the Digital Agenda


The European Commission published A Digital Agenda for Europe, its new 5-year strategy for the ICT sector, on 18 May 2010. EMF has reviewed and discussed it internally. It now releases a position paper with its comments and contributions to the debate.


EMF co-organises three networking sessions in the 27-29 September ICT2010 event


The EU  published a full list of the networking sessions taking place at the 27-29 September ICT2010 event in Brussels,  Europe's most visible forum for ICT research and innovation.
EMF co-organises three of them: "Empowering EU-LA ICT Collaboration", "Language  Technology for a Multilingual Europe" and "Connecting the Worlds: Internet of Things International".

"Internet-connected Objects" and "Virtual Factories and Enterprises" Information Day, 8 October 2010, Brussels


The European Commission organises an information day to brief interested stakeholders on the ICT Work Programme 2011/12 with respect to objectives 1.3 "Internet-connected Objects" and 7.3"Virtual Factories and Enterprises" within the context of the "Factories of the Future" Public-Private Partnership. The event will also feature a workshop for potential proposers to exchange their ideas and to network.


Are Europeans indeed more interested in science than in sport?


Eurobarometer, the European opinion survey organization, just released a new survey on science and technology. This was presented by EurActiv as "lazy researchers to blame for declining EU science optimism" and by the European Commission as “80% of Europeans say they are interested in scientific discoveries and technological developments, compared to 65% interested in sport”.

OECD Report on Performance, Growth and Key Challenges of the ICT Sector in India


The report analyses the transformation of the Indian economy thanks to its competitive information technology services sector. It updates a previous report presented in December 2008.
