Safer Internet call for proposals 2010

The call for proposals under the Safer Internet programme was launched on 26 February 2010 (OJ C48/07). Proposals may be submitted for the following actions: Safer Internet Centres (awareness centres, hotlines and helplines) in Portugal and Slovakia ; a thematic network to facilitate cooperation of law enforcement agencies in Europe and internationally ; a targeted project enhancing law enforcement agencies' analysis of illegal material within peer-to-peer ; a knowledge enhancement project on internet addiction of minors ; a thematic network to stimulate and co-ordinate investigation into the use of new media by children.

ICT 2010: Call for proposals to exhibit cutting edge research and innovation projects

The European Commission has published today the Call for Proposals for the Exhibition session at ICT2010 on 27-29 September 2010. The Commission is looking for ideas in the area of upstream ICT innovation as well as close-to-market projects. We invite any organisation involved in European research and development as well as deployment projects and associated support activities to submit an idea for an exhibit. The call is open to all sorts of actors in ICT research: universities, research institutes, non-profit organisations, public authorities and commercial companies including small and medium sized enterprises.

Sustainable delivery of quality healthcare at affordable cost is a major challenge for European healthcare systems for a variety of reasons. This calls for changes in the way healthcare is delivered and the way medical knowledge is managed and transferred to clinical practice. Prior information notice: Challenges of the digital era for film heritage institutions.

Tender procedure in the field of Media policy. This study shall provide a detailed description of the challenges that film heritage institutions are facing in relation to digital production or distribution of cinematographic works (in cinemas or via new channels of distribution). It will establish the legal/organisational/technical changes that should be introduced to ensure that film archives will continue to perform their role in the digital era. It will evaluate the awareness and readiness for changes of film archives and national administrations in the 27 Member States, and identify problems and best practices. The study will analyse and compare the situation in film heritage institutions in US, describe the strategies of American majors and large European production companies for preservation of their digital films. It will also provide policy options for EU action, and recommendations and a calendar to Member States and film heritage institutions for the preparation to the digital era.

Contract award notice: Study on "Indicators for independence and efficient functioning of audiovisual media services regulatory bodies for the purpose of enforcing the rules in the AVMS Directive".

The first objective of the study is to analyse the requirements of the Audiovisual Media Services Directive as regards the independent regulators. The second objective is to gather information on the regulation of the following aspects of regulatory authorities in the Member States: measures to guarantee the independence of the regulator ; basic powers which allow for the effective application and enforcement of audiovisual legislation ; adequate monitoring powers including the adequate resources to carry out the monitoring functions ; adequate sanctioning powers including the ability to issue warnings, impose fines and, ultimately, the power to prohibit broadcasting/revoke broadcasting licences.

This call for tender is published by the European Commission as part of its work on media literacy and in the perspective of its reporting obligation on media literacy levels as indicated in the Audiovisual Media Services Directive. This new study will build on the results of the previous one. Main tasks include : Analysing the existing assessment criteria and suggesting changes and/or additional ones; Testing the assessment criteria in all Member States; Comparing the media literacy levels and drafting national and European reports on media literacy levels in all Member States.
