The Belgian priorities for the next 6 months are in line with recently published policy documents of the EU, amongst others "Europe 2020" and the “Digital Agenda”.

Belgium will be targeting measuring the progress in relation to the European Research Area (ERA), the free circulation of knowledge within the ERA and the simplification of European Union Programmes. For competitiveness related policies, the internal digital market and addressing the needs of SMEs will be part of the Belgian Presidency’s top priorities, together with the implementation of the Small Business Act.
